Manchester United have unveiled new striker Rasmus Hojlund, but fans won’t be able to watch him for a while.

The Atalanta star has signed for the Red Devils for £72million, with the club bringing him on to the pitch before the pre-season friendly against Lens.

But amidst all the fanfare surrounding his arrival, the wait to see him play is expected to go on.

According to Manchester Evening News’ Samuel Luckhurst, Hojlund sustained a small issue during pre-season training with Atalanta.

That means the 20-year-old isn’t currently match fit and won’t be ready for the start of the new campaign.

Man United reportedly say it could take a few weeks for him to reach match fitness.

The MEN also claim Man United had planned to confirm Hojlund’s arrival in midweek.

But it was delayed after the 20-year-old travelled to London on Thursday for extensive examinations as part of his medical.

Hojlund takes United’s spending over £150m following the arrivals of Mason Mount and Andre Onana.

The Denmark striker scored nine goals in 32 Serie A appearances after signing for Atalanta in 2022 – and has six in as many games for his country.
