It may have been four years since Petr Cech hung up his gloves, but the legendary goalkeeper has still very much got it.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal star made some brilliant saves in the first half of Saturday’s Game4Ukraine, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

And they were that impressive that Blues fans called for him to come out of retirement.

Aside from conceding to former West Ham captain Mark Noble, Cech was in fine form in the charity match against football stars past and present.

Former Premier League striker Yakubu took a powerful shot from the edge of the box midway through the opening period.

But Cech palmed the effort away, marking one of many decent saves he made at his former club’s ground on Saturday.

Chelsea do of course have Kepa Arrizabalaga and new signing Robert Sanchez from Brighton as options in goal this year.

But there must have been something about watching Cech – and his iconic head guard – in between the sticks again at the Bridge that had nostalgic Blues fans wishing for him to return.

“Cech would be Chelsea’s best keeper still,” one tweeted.

Another wrote: “Cech would still start for us.”

Meanwhile, a third said: “Chelsea should’ve resigned Cech instead.”

“Cech might be better than Kepa…” another posted.

This user simply stated: “Petr Cech is currently better than Kepa.”

And another quipped: “How is a retired Petr Cech better than Kepa? That’s embarrassing.”

talkSPORT’s Perry Groves said on commentary: “Petr Cech was like an octopus pulling saves out all over the place.”

Cech, who was replaced by AC Milan legend Dida at half-time. made a whopping 494 appearances for Chelsea before signing for Arsenal in 2015.

He played 139 games for the Gunners prior to his retirement in 2019 after the Europa League final which the Blues won.
