Armed UK Police who attended a hotel after reports a man was walking around with a “large knife” instead found a man with a Harry Potter wand.

Numerous Balby Police firearms officers entered a large hotel in Enderby after a report that a man was “inside near the lifts carrying a large knife” on Sunday morning (GMT).

Officers said they quickly established it was a “Harry Potter fan with a wand”.

“Thankfully no harm was caused to any resident and there was no sign of Voldermort,” Balby Police said on Facebook.

The comments section of the Facebook post included many Harry Potter puns including the top comment; “Are you being Sirius?!”.

The family who made the report has since told Leicestershire Live they were “traumatised” after seeing what they described as a man with a long bread knife in the hotel.

“It was a guy aged about 40 and he was standing dressed in shorts and a top with his legs apart, with the knife in his left hand, pointing it to the right as if he was holding a sword,” Cris Caixinha told the UK publication.

Caixinha said the family was sure they saw an orange bread knife, not a wand.
