Manchester City’s John Stones has admitted he’s been super impressed by Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer whenever he’s watched him this season.

If you’ve tuned into a random Chelsea match this campaign, there’s a high chance that Cole Palmer has been our best player on the pitch.

The 21-year-old’s been an immediate success during his debut year for the Blues since his transfer from Man City last summer.

He’s already scored 12 goals and made nine assists in 28 appearances for the London club.

Interestingly, Palmer gets the chance to revisit his former club on Saturday evening when Man City host Chelsea.

Man City and England centre-back John Stones, 29, knows Palmer well following their time together at the Etihad Stadium.

He’s watched from afar his teammate thrive at a Premier League rival this year, albeit the pair are reunited for international duty.

“Cole has been great in the games that I have seen and I am super happy for him,” Stones said via Man City’s official website.

“I was quite close with Cole and sad to see him leave us, but that is his own path and journey in his career. I am happy for him and if he is happy that is the main thing.

“He was a great player for us while he was here and he has hit the ground running whilst he has been at Chelsea. It will be fun to play against him if we are both selected tomorrow.”

John Stones hails Cole Palmer

Palmer is the chief threat in Chelsea’s attacking play nowadays, so we’re convinced Stones and the rest of the Man City side have discussed nullifying him ahead of this weekend’s league showdown.

Chelsea’s young sensation has received praise from all angles in the build up to Saturday’s game.

For example, Man City manager Pep Guardiola described Palmer as “exceptional”, as quoted by Ian Cheeseman’s X account.

It really wouldn’t surprise us if the left-footed playmaker pulls out an eye-catching performance this weekend.
