Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling scored in his side’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City over the weekend, but it looks like there are some people at Stamford Bridge who have doubts about him.
Some at Chelsea really value Raheem Sterling‘s experience and want to keep hold of the 29-year-old, while others are happy to part ways with him in the summer. That is what journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.
Mauricio Pochettino is unlikely to take sides with those at Stamford Bridge who have no problem with selling Sterling.
The Argentine has relied on the wide man heavily this season and was really happy with his performance in the draw against City.
In total, Sterling has made 31 appearances under Pochettino, scoring eight goals.
Chelsea hierarchy split on Raheem Sterling
According to Jones, not everyone at Chelsea is on the same page when it comes to Sterling. On the England international, the journalist said: “There are some at the club who feel that his experience and his qualities are definitely worth sticking with and persisting with.
“But there are others who would be quite happy for Sterling to be moved on at this stage. This is just where we are with Chelsea right now, for various reasons.
“There are splits within the hierarchy over how happy they are and the direction they want Chelsea to go in. I think it’s that situation that raises doubts about whether Raheem Sterling does actually end up staying beyond the summer. It could be a bit of a power battle to see who gets their way.”

It would be a bit foolish to sell Sterling to be honest. He is one of the few experienced players Pochettino actually has in his squad and does have something to offer in attack. You only have to look at his goal against City to realise that.
The Three Lions star, who Chelsea signed from the Premier League champions for £50m (BBC Sport), has not been the perfect forward this season.
There was one moment in the Blues’ 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers in December where he shot straight at Jose Sa instead of giving Cole Palmer an easy tap in, for example. But overall, he is still a very good and proven attacker.
