Chelsea could soon find themselves looking for a new manager amid Mauricio Pochettino’s struggles at Stamford Bridge this season.
In fact, it has already been reported that Chelsea are considering other names right now and are interested in Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso is another manager who has been linked to the Blues, with Sports Zone claiming at the start of the month that Behdad Eghbali wants him in place now. However, according to Foot Mercato, Liverpool are the Spaniard’s preference over the likes of Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
It comes as no surprise with Alonso being a legend at the club.
It is also not surprising that he is generating so much interest right now. Leverkusen have been incredible under the former midfielder this season, currently leading the Bundesliga title race by eight points. What is even more impressive is that they are yet to lose a league game.
Liverpool more likely than Chelsea for Xabi Alonso
Unsurprisingly, Alonso is leaning towards joining his former club over other sides, such as Chelsea.
It means that the Blues are going to have to look elsewhere if they do decide to get rid of Pochettino. It is a shame, as Alonso is proving to be the real deal at the BayArena.

It is not game over for Pochettino yet anyway, whereas Liverpool already know Jurgen Klopp will not be at Anfield next season, allowing them to move quicker than their Premier League rivals.
The above and the fact that Alonso obviously has a strong connection to the Reds put Chelsea at a huge disadvantage.
The Blues are not going to have Champions League football as well. At this point, you cannot really see what the club can sell Alonso, especially compared to Liverpool.
Should they dismiss Pochettino now or at the end of the season, then, someone like Amorim seems way more realistic than Alonso.
