Journalist Alex Goldberg has now described what he has heard about how Todd Boehly is running Chelsea.

He told ‘The Byline’ that there are some alarming differences in the aims of the new owners in comparison to the successful Roman Abramovich.

Boehly in particular has taken a lot of heat as a result of some poor form both on and off the pitch for the Blues in the last two years.

Their rough patch continued last weekend when they were defeated late on in the EFL Cup final by an inexperienced Liverpool side.

This has seen reports begin to spread that there are some at the club who are already looking at potential replacements to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

It would not be the first time they have chopped and changed at the top, with both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter being a victim of this so far.

It has been claimed by Goldberg now though that those in charge right now perhaps don’t have the same ambitions as those who preceded them.

He said: “Chelsea’s aim compared to the Roman Era from what I’m hearing is to just be competitive, it’s to be a business that is churning out money every year, you are staying within your means and just making sure you stay relevant, but this is not going to work in the Premier League in this day and age and the standard that Chelsea is used to having”

Considering the club have not won a trophy since the new owners came in, and they are much further away from one than they were last week, it is clear why some fans are worried.

However, they should not forget the vast amount of money the owners have given the go ahead to be spent on players many supporters were very pleased to see come in.
