Chelsea signed Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic last summer but could enter the transfer market again for a goalkeeper.

Chelsea are interested in Ajax’s Diant Ramaj, 22, Bild journalist Christian Falk recently claimed on Englische Woche.

According to Falk, Manchester United and Arsenal are also keen on Ramaj, so there could be a real tussle for his signature in the summer.

At Chelsea right now, Petrovic has been the man between the sticks following an injury that Sanchez picked up in December.

However, the 26-year-old is back now and started in the Blues’ 3-2 win against Leeds United in the FA Cup last night.

Chelsea interested in Diant Ramaj

When asked about interest in Ramaj from Chelsea and others, Falk said: “That’s true, yes. He was number two behind [Kevin] Trapp in Frankfurt and moved to Ajax Amsterdam this season, where he knows his place in goal. He’s number one there and impresses with strong performances.

“Have some Premier League clubs really taken notice of him? Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal have and the tempting thing about all three is that he would have the chance to become number one.

“He could really attack the regular goalkeepers and that’s the plan at these clubs. The clubs are keen, they’re on him and my colleague Tobias Altschaffl has heard that it could become concrete.”

Should Chelsea sign Diant Ramaj?

As of now, no. Over the last couple of months, we think Petrovic has done enough to get another season as No.1 with Sanchez covering him.

The Serbian has produced some big saves for Mauricio Pochettino‘s side, including against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final last weekend.

Arsenal legend David Seaman thought one particular stop he made against Luis Diaz was “brilliant”.

Ultimately, then, if Petrovic does not mess up between now and the end of the campaign, then the 24-year-old should go into next season as No.1. And if he does, there is no reason why Sanchez should not be given another opportunity between the sticks.

The Spain international is a proven Premier League goalkeeper who Chelsea have just bought. Trying to replace one of the two at this stage seems a bit rash and not necessary.
