Reports have claimed that Chelsea have identified a coach they would like to bring in to help bolster their backroom staff at Stamford Bridge.

According to The Telegraph, the Blues are considering bringing in Brentford set-piece specialist Bernardo Cueva in order to improve their record from corners and free-kicks.

Cueva has established himself as a bit of a master in an area Chelsea have notoriously struggled in this season.

Conceding from set pieces has been the Achilles heel of the club this season so far, and has led to manager Mauricio Pochettino seeking to make changes.

He has frequently called out the lack of height in his side, and this could go some way to explaining why he was in favour of recalling Cesare Casadei from his loan spell at Leicester City.

However, in the most recent game against, ironically, Brentford, the Italian was an unused substitute as they went on to draw 2-2.

The midfielder will surely be questioning if the decision to bring him back was done in the best interest of his career, with him hardly featuring since making the move back.

While he could be a real asset in both boxes when it comes to set pieces, the potential acquisition of Cueva could open Chelsea up towards one of their top transfer targets.

The Mexican will have obviously worked a lot with striker Ivan Toney, with him becoming one of the Premier League’s top strikers.

Chelsea have had a reported long-term interest in the Englishman, as they seek a Premier League-ready upgrade at Stamford Bridge.

It remains to be seen if the interest in the Brentford coach may also coincide with wanting to sign their top player, however it is expected that the striker will be on the move at the end of the season, with Stamford Bridge still a potential home.
