Vietnam veteran scoops lottery jackpot SIX times earning $1.95million after using ‘intuition’ to buy six $2 tickets with the same numbers in ‘Lucky for Life’ draw in Massachusetts

A Vietnam veteran has won more than $1.95million in a lottery – after buying the same numbers six times in one day. 

Raymond Roberts Snr has been playing the lottery for more than 20 years and chose the numbers based on a combination of birthdays and anniversary dates. 

He had used the numbers before but said he felt an ‘intuition’ that he should buy more tickets on that day. 

The lottery awards a set amount for correctly choosing the five numbers drawn, meaning Mr Roberts won the set amount six times on December 14.

When collecting his prize the next day, he chose to have five lump sum payments of $390,000 and to have the other ticket paid out over the next 20 years. 

He will receive a $25,000 payment every year – and $1.95million up front.  

The veteran, who lives in Fall River near Boston, said he wanted to buy a motorbike with his winnings. 

The lottery, called Lucky For Life, is just one of the many games and scratch cards that residents of Mass 

According to the rules of the game, the odds of winning just the $25,000 per year for life prize are one in 1,813,028.

Roberts Sr. purchased the winning tickets at Royal Liquors in Fall River. The business will receive $30,000 in bonuses – $5,000 for each ticket.
