A man has been injured and a shot fired when a gang of masked men stormed a home in Sydney’s south-west overnight.

Police today have launched a manhunt for the home invaders who broke into a Canley Vale property at about 11 pm yesterday.

It is believed at least one shot was fired during the break-in, but no one was injured as a result of the firearm being discharged.

However, a 42-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and has been taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

Investigators say the robbers took an amount of cash and drove away in a black Audi Q5 SUV.

Police have set up a crime scene and are continuing investigations.
