After a disappointing loan spell at Union Berlin, David Datro Fofana’s latest at Burnley is proving to be a productive one and has loads of Chelsea fans talking.

David Datro Fofana has scored three goals in seven Premier League appearances for Burnley, including an incredible strike against West Ham United yesterday.

Several Chelsea supporters have since taken to the social media platform X to call for the forward to be kept at the club next season.

“Must be in the Chelsea squad next season”, one fan said.

Another stated: “We need to integrate him.”

Should David Datro Fofana be part of Chelsea’s first team next season?

It really depends on the business the club do in the summer. If they bring in a new striker, then it may make sense for Fofana to go out on loan again.

The arrival of another centre-forward and Nicolas Jackson should be enough for Mauricio Pochettino, especially if the former comes in and starts delivering as the first-choice No.9.

If not, based on what he is showing at Burnley right now, perhaps Chelsea should keep hold of Fofana and let him act as deputy to Jackson.

The Blues still have Armando Broja on their books, but his loan spell at Fulham is obviously not going as well as Fofana’s at Burnley.

While the latter is scoring goals at his temporary home, the former is not even starting games. It could change how the club view the two young strikers come the end of the season.

Chelsea signing someone like Brentford’s Ivan Toney, who has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, will block Fofana’s pathway into the team. But if no one like that arrives, it is only logical for Chelsea to consider keeping Fofana for the 2024/25 campaign.
