Chelsea star Cole Palmer is one player at Stamford Bridge blossoming during a challenging season.

Signed for £40 million (Sky Sports), Cole Palmer has been truly fantastic following his move from Manchester City to Chelsea last summer.

The 21-year-old star, who’s been used as a right-winger or No 10, has quickly become his team’s talisman.

He’s currently on 13 goals and 11 assists in 33 only Blues appearances.

Pundit Martin Keown has been super impressed by what he’s seen from Chelsea’s Palmer during his debut season in west London. He noted that he prefers the England international playing as a right-winger, too.

“Watching him for Chelsea, you can see why he insisted he was ready,” Keown told The Daily Mail.

“This 21-year-old is an immense talent. He is cool, classy and measured, with a little maverick in him, and determined to prove why he deserves to represent England at Euro 2024.

“Phil Foden was patient enough to wait but Palmer wanted to be fast-tracked and for all those at City who nurtured him, it will be tough seeing him strutting his stuff in a Chelsea shirt.

“He has been used in a variety of positions but the right wing is where he is most destructive, moving inside on to his left foot to open up the pitch while the overlapping Malo Gusto flies down the flank in support.

“Opposition full backs can try to force Palmer down the line but much like the best inverted wingers, he will often find his way inside.”

Destructive Cole Palmer

We agree that Palmer’s been destructive in this Chelsea XI and the one individual teams must fear coming up against each game.

The £75,000-a-week Blues star (Spotrac) is so clever both on and off the ball, especially for someone still so young.

Speaking via FIVE’s YouTube channel this week, Rio Ferdinand shared his admiration for Palmer by insisting he’s got everything to become a “top player”. We can only echo those thought as well!

The combination of Palmer and Gusto down that right flank in recent weeks has certainly been a huge plus in Chelsea’s XI. They’re proof that some of the club’s investment in the last few windows has been well planned and executed.
