TV icon Jane McDonald won’t be reprising her role as a Loose Women host in the future. 

After a decade on the ITV lunchtime show, Jane, 60, left in 2014 but was rumoured to make a comeback for the 25th anniversary celebration, due to her iconic status on the show.

Speaking to Bella magazine, a source said: ‘Bosses want to go all-out with the celebrations, including bringing back some Loose Women legends. And top of the list is Jane McDonald.

‘For many, she is the ultimate Loose Woman and they will do anything to make sure she’s involved

However, Jane’s representative promptly dismissed these claims, stating there were no discussions regarding her return.

They told Entertainment Daily: ‘There are no discussions taking place with regards to Jane returning to Loose Women whatsoever.

‘She always thoroughly enjoys going back as a guest and catching up with the ladies but there’s no plans to go back as a panellist.’

Despite stepping back, the TV presenter hasn’t ruled out a future return, hinting at the possibility in previous interviews. 

Whilst emphasising her passion for singing and creating, she told The Sun: ‘I’m still good friends with the Loose Women girls and would never say never in terms of returning permanently one day.’

While Jane hasn’t rejoined the panel permanently, she has made guest appearances to discuss her TV ventures and personal life, including the loss of her partner, Eddie Rothe, the drummer for The Searchers.

The singer and television presenter – best known for her Channel 5’s Cruising series and travel shows – lost her partner to lung cancer in March 2021.

After losing Ed, who was 67, Jane stayed away from singing live and threw herself into television work instead.

She travelling to Japan and stepped in to host the British Soap Awards at short notice, after the Phillip Schofield scandal forced him to step down.

The Operatic singer and cruise ship favourite was hailed ‘a perfect choice’ for the feel good awards show.

At the end of last year she announced the biggest tour of her singing career, headlining iconic venues like the London Palladium and the Blackpool Opera House.

Titled, With All My Love, the show will feature classic covers as well as some more personal songs she has written herself.
