Gunshots fired in a fast food outlet carpark overnight in Melbourne’s west have triggered a police investigation.

9News understands police were called to the McDonald’s in Tarneit at about midnight.

Shots were reportedly fired in the area.

A scene has been taped off and two cars have been sectioned off along Derrimut Road.
