A Brisbane grandmother has been left petrified after a gang of armed youths broke into her home while she was inside.

Police called to Mozart Place at Mount Ommaney just after 7am yesterday after a gang broke into the home of Veri Kostidnovac and her husband.

“We’ve been here for 55 years… We’ve worked that hard,” Kostidnovac said.

“I don’t know what they (were) chasing.”

She said she was scared to be on her own property.

The group then made their escape in a car.

A 15-year-old youth offender was allegedly behind the wheel of the stolen car that police began to follow.

The car was driving so dangerously police had to suspend the pursuit.

Queensland Police Detective Inspector Wayne Frances said it was extremely dangerous.

“It’s dangerous not only to the police officers involved in trying to stop them, it’s dangerous to members of the community trying to use the roadways,” Frances said.

“It’s also dangerous to the offenders themselves.”

Police are still searching for the youth offenders.
