Former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata was not the most popular player during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Alvaro Morata himself has admitted that he did not have the greatest relationship with Chelsea supporters.

“I didn’t quite feel loved or appreciated by the club or the fans,” the 31-year-old told Goal in 2019.

He is now having trouble with some Spain fans, who clearly do not appreciate the forward after last night.

Morata started in Spain’s 3-3 draw with Brazil, and his manager Luis de la Fuente has been speaking about an incident involving his striker and the Spain supporters.

What did the Spain fans do to Alvaro Morata?

After the game, De la Fuente claimed that he was hurt.

The reason why? Because Spain fans decided to whistle and boo Morata.

As relayed by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on X, De la Fuente said: “Morata getting whistled at by the Bernabeu… it hurts me to the core that in my country, they boo a player of the national team, the captain who is a role model for us, an example.

“It really hurts. When I hear those boos I feel ashamed.”

How does Nicolas Jackson’s first season at Chelsea compare to Alvaro Morata’s?

Nicolas Jackson is the one leading the line for Chelsea these days. The 22-year-old joined the Blues from Villarreal last summer and has scored 12 goals in 32 appearances.

Morata during the 2017/18 campaign, his first season at Stamford Bridge, managed to net 15 times in 48 outings.

Eleven of those goals came in 31 Premier League appearances, while nine of Jackson’s have come in 24. The Senegal international, then, could easily outscore Morata and in fewer games.

At the start of the season, former Manchester City defender Micah Richards predicted that Jackson would go on to become a star, and the former Villarreal man has looked like one of late. He scored in his last two top-flight matches before the international break, including a clever little flick against Newcastle United.
