Chelsea have still got a pivotal couple of months to wrap up what’s been quite a frustrating season so far, but you can forgive the club’s supporters if they’ve already got one eye on the summer and the next transfer window.

For Mauricio Pochettino’s side, they can still yet salvage the campaign because they’re in the FA Cup semi-finals and the European positions aren’t completely out of reach yet in the Premier League.

However, the Blues have suffered this term with inconsistency from a mainly very young squad.

Chelsea took their spending beyond the £1bn mark under this ownership during last summer. What will they realistically be able to do moving forward, though?

There’s fresh speculation that mentions Blues interest in a player thriving in Germany right now.

Chelsea linked with Bundesliga star

Dani Olmo, who’s impressing for German top division side Leipzig, is in Chelsea’s sights.

FootballTransfers reported earlier this week that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has identified Olmo as a main Blues target for this summer. In fact, the Blues have even opened talks with Leipzig about the attacking midfielder.

Now, The Daily Mail has added more fuel to the fire regarding the transfer race for him.

They claim that Manchester United and Real Madrid are also watching Olmo, who’s got a £52 million release clause that becomes active this summer. In addition, they mention the interest from Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City.

It’s always a worry when the pull and power of super giants Real Madrid is lurking around one of your targets.

Dani Olmo still shining during disrupted season

Olmo’s campaign has been stop-start because of injuries, but he’s got seven goals and four assists in 19 Leipzig matches so far.

The versatile 25-year-old, who can play as a wide or central midfielder, looks like a manager’s dream.

Meanwhile, during this month’s international break, he scored a fabulous goal for Spain in a 3-3 draw with Brazil.

Is he the sort of game-changing signing that Chelsea needs this summer? Our gut says he shouldn’t be a priority given his profile.
