Chelsea fans will not be happy after their side’s 2-2 draw with Burnley at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

Not only did Chelsea take the lead twice on the afternoon, but they also had a man advantage after Lorenz Assignon was sent off in the first half.

Cole Palmer at least put in another top performance, scoring both of the Blues’ goals, while defender Malo Gusto was not bad going forward either before he had to be substituted because of an injury.

Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy thought he played almost like a winger during the game.

However, there were a couple of other Chelsea players who would have disappointed supporters, with ESPN pundit Steve Nicol going as far as to label one of them a “villain”.

Chelsea’s ‘villain’ vs Burnley

Chelsea had chances to win the game, with Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling wasting opportunities in the second half.

Of course, the two attackers cannot be solely blamed for Mauricio Pochettino‘s team dropping points.

There was some awful defending at the back, while goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic probably could have done better for Dara O’Shea’s goal.

However, the above would not have mattered if Sterling did not miss a header from point-blank range, which has not gone under the radar.

Speaking about the winger’s miss on ESPN, Nicol said: “They bring Sterling on and he’s got the most incredible chance, probably seven, eight yards out, a free header, goalie to beat and puts it about 20 yards wide.

“He could have been the hero, becomes the villain once again. Every time you go to Stamford Bridge, you don’t know what you’re going to see. It’s just incredible.”

Will Mauricio Pochettino continue to rely on the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling?

When it comes to Jackson, he is going to have to. The 22-year-old is the only centre-forward in the Argentine’s squad right now.

As for Sterling, though, Pochettino has alternatives to the £50m wide man, including Mykhailo Mudryk, who started the Burnley game ahead of his team-mate.

Sterling has to start delivering now or risk Pochettino moving on from him.

The club may have already decided to do so, with another left winger, Nico Williams, currently being linked with a move to west London.
