• Usain Bolt became fastest man on Earth after breaking 100m and 200m records

  • Greyhounds are the fastest breed of dogs and can exceed speed of 40mph

Usain Bolt’s incredible speed was put to the test in a 3D computer simulation as the Olympic legend was pitted against the fastest dog on the planet.

Bolt, who is an eight-time olympic gold medalist, retired in 2017 but his world record is unlikely to be broken in the near future after he incredible achievements to break both the 100m and 200m records.

The 37-year-old became the fastest man on the planet when he ran 100m in just 9.58 second during the 2009 World Championships in Berlin.

The Jamaican sprinter then set a 200m record that same year, clocking a time of 19.19 seconds.

The likes of Yohan Blake, Tyson Gay and Noah Lyles have all tried and failed to break the record in the past 15 years.

While humans seem to struggle to compete with Bolt, many have wondered how he would fare against some animals.

And a new computer-generated simulation has emerged of Bolt racing the fastest breed of dogs, a greyhound.

Due to their skinny body frame, long legs and flexible spine along with a number of factors, greyhounds average race speeds can exceed 40mph.

In comparison, Bolt averaged a speed of 23.35mph during his 100m record run.

So it comes as no surprise that in the simulation, posted by MotionAthlete, he was beaten with ease.

The greyhound completed the 100m sprint after just 5.80 seconds, almost four seconds faster than Bolt.

This is not the first time Bolt’s speed has been tested in a 3D simulation.

Earlier this month another virtual test was put together to see who would win in a 100m race between Bolt and PSG’s Kylian Mbappe, who has become renowned for his blistering pace.

Mbappe’s 100m time has never been recorded on a track but the Speed Showdown channel calculated a time based on his fastest ever recorded speed of 23.6mph [38km/h].

A video of a virtual race between the two gives viewers a variety of angles, including a POV from Mbappe, who is quickly overtaken and left trailing in Bolt’s wake.

Bolt finished with a time of 9.58, while Mbappe was far slower with a time of 10.90.
