Five children have been arrested following a high-speed police pursuit through Melbourne’s east in a stolen car.

Police first spotted the stolen Black BMW sedan in Boronia near the Mountain Highway about 10.25pm.

Officers continued to track the car as it began driving ”erratically and dangerously” through Glen Iris, Camberwell, Richmond, Collingwood, and Melbourne’s CBD.

Police said the BMW was allegedly observed travelling at more than 190km/hr on East Link.

It was brought to a halt by police who rammed the car on Wellington Parade in East Melbourne about 11.20pm.

The car was stolen from Footscray on April 9, police said.

Five boys were arrested and taken into custody, where they are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Police allege the boys armed with machetes committed numerous armed robberies and cigarette burglaries across the southern and eastern suburbs of Melbourne yesterday afternoon and Monday night.
