Emergency services were called to Lorenzo’s Cafe and Pizzeria on Station Street in Aspendale about 8.43pm.
Crews arrived within five minutes to find the business fully involved in fire.
Firefighters donning breathing apparatus attacked the fire, which destroyed the ground floor and upstairs residence.
The fire was deemed under control about 9.31 pm.
Police are investigating the fire.
