A homicide investigation has been launched after a drive-by shooting in Melbourne just after midnight.

A 30-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound in a car on Bride Avenue, Hampton Park at 12.30am today.

He died at the scene.

A witness told police that a Ford Ranger utility was seen driving away from the area.

It’s believed the same vehicle was found at Sweeney Reserve in Berwick, just after 2.30am today.

Detectives are currently on the scene as an investigation has been launched.
