The Independent reports that the amount of high-profile interest in Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna at this stage of his managerial career is a real surprise to everyone in football.
It is understood that the 38-year-old boss is receiving concrete interest from Premier League sides Chelsea, Manchester United and Brighton.
Why is Kieran McKenna so attractive to clubs?
When you consider McKenna is a young manager who’s never been in charge of a top division club before, it’s a slight surprise so many established teams in the Premier League like him to this extent.
The Northern Irishman has been a senior manager for less than three years since leaving his role as an assistant at Man United. However, he’s built up quite a strong CV in the lower leagues with one club.
McKenna’s achieved back-to-back promotions as Ipswich boss from League One to the Premier League. In particular, finishing second in the Championship this year above the likes of Leeds United and Southampton is super impressive when you compare squads.
