Chelsea are now making plans of how they want to attack the upcoming summer transfer window and where they want to strengthen their squad.

The Blues finished sixth in the Premier League last season, which was only enough to qualify for the UEFA Conference League. On top of that, Mauricio Pochettino has left as head coach by mutual consent.

The Telegraph does report that Chelsea are poised to confirm Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca as their new manager on a five-year deal.

Chelsea are frequently linked with different targets in the transfer rumour mill as another new managerial era begins, but where is their focus going to be?

Chelsea could sign two centre-backs

Football.London claims that Chelsea are looking at signing a centre-back, a midfielder, a winger and a striker this summer.

It is explained that the Blues could even attempt to bring in two central defenders if Trevoh Chalobah is sold. When you consider Thiago Silva is also leaving, there could be quite a void to fill in the backline at Stamford Bridge.

The report has named Crystal Palace and England star Marc Guehi as someone currently on Chelsea’s radar.

Guehi, 23, is a previous Chelsea academy graduate that has carved out an impressive Premier League career so far at Selhurst Park, playing 98 top-flight matches.

In fairness, the ball-playing centre-half is developing into a top defender, so it’s no surprise the Blues are considering trying to bring him back.

Should Blues re-sign Marc Guehi?

Palace’s Guehi wouldn’t be The Chelsea Chronicle’s priority target for the Blues this summer, but he definitely wouldn’t be a bad signing either.

GiveMeSport claimed back in March that Guehi is valued at £60m. The fact he’s got nine England caps and is around Gareth Southgate’s international squad must play a factor in that.

He’s a modern day centre-back with great quality on the ball, plus the pace and strength to thrive in the Premier League.

Despite defensive departures a the club, Chelsea do still own quality centre-halves such as Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile.
