Footage shows a woman entering a Drakes supermarket in Salisbury North with what appears to be a large present in a trolley.
Supermarket workers said a man who appeared to be an accomplice was spotted appearing to help collect groceries and place them inside the gift box.
The pair then walked out of the supermarket allegedly without paying.
“Let’s face it, there’s not too much we haven’t seen, but this one is actually something we haven’t seen,” supermarket boss John-Paul Drake told 9News Adelaide.
Drakes Supermarkets is working with South Australia Police to identify the man and woman who have been captured on camera inside multiple stores.

Management said the family business lost about $10 million worth of stolen products each year, with shoplifters targeting premium meats, deli cheeses and beauty products.
Drake said the supermarket chain has experienced a 38 per cent spike in theft in the past 12 months.
