Chelsea fans may be bored while club football pauses this summer, but there’s several Blues players away representing their countries. In fact, one individual earned a rave review for his international performance last night in a friendly match.

Chelsea supporters may want to tune into Euro 2024, which starts next Friday, because several of their stars will be competing.

Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer will be at the Euros representing England. Also, Marc Cucurella (Spain), Mykhailo Mudryk (Ukraine), Armando Broja (Albania), Djordje Petrovic (Serbia) and Romeu Lukaku (Belgium) will be at the tournament.

On top of that, the Copa America competition takes place this summer. Chelsea representatives include Enzo Fernandez for Argentina, plus Moises Caicedo and Kendry Paez for Ecuador.

Chelsea player impresses on Friday night

BBC pundit Dion Dublin praised Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer for his England performance at Wembley Stadium yesterday.

England’s final game ahead of the Euros ended in a disappointing 1-0 defeat versus Iceland, which may have dampened expectations going into the tournament.

However, Palmer earned another start for his country, playing 77 minutes on the right wing.

Dublin told BBC Radio 5 Live (9:20pm, 7 June): “I think Cole Palmer been outstanding. He’s tried to make things happen and it didn’t happen for him tonight. I’d have loved to have seen him down the left hand side a bit more, I think he would’ve had a bit more joy.”

England need to use Cole Palmer

There’s a debate to be had over whether Palmer should be in England’s best XI. Regardless, the in-form Chelsea star must play a significant role this summer at the Euros.

On a poor night for Gareth Southgate’s team, Palmer still provided glimpses of magic. His cross should have been tapped in by Harry Kane. Plus, he got into fantastic goalscoring pockets himself, albeit his finishing let him down on the night.

He’s definitely still riding the wave of a stunning debut season at Chelsea, where he scored 25 goals and made 15 assists in 45 matches for the Blues.
