There’s a player in Chelsea’s squad who looks completely reborn lately and must be kept at the club at all costs.

Unfortunately, not every individual is able to rock up at Stamford Bridge like Cole Palmer did last season and hit the ground running from day one.

There’s several high-profile Blues stars that have played well within themselves in the last year or two.

It’s now on new Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca to strike up a bond with his squad from day one and get this talented group fulfilling their potential.

Thankfully, there’s a current Chelsea player that looks reborn right now.

Marc Cucurella, 25, is playing the best football we’ve seen from him in recent years, so Maresca should be excited to work with the defender.

Don’t sell Marc Cucurella

The Chelsea Chronicle’s message to the club is to rip up any plans they have of selling Cucurella this summer.

GiveMeSport claimed this month that Chelsea are weighing up whether to sell Cucurella or Ben Chilwell.

There’s always likely to be question marks against Cucurella because of the £60m transfer fee (BBC) it cost to sign him from Brighton two years ago.

However, the Spain international is now beginning to really show his quality as an aggressive and attack-minded left-back.

Described as a “tremendous player” by Brighton owner Tony Bloom via The Athletic in 2022, Cucurella is having a renaissance in form and it’s so enjoyable to watch.

He’s just dropped a classic performance for Spain

If you’re looking for evidence that Cucurella has really turned a corner, then his performances at Euro 2024 so far this summer really emphasises that his game is in a fantastic place right now.

It was a stop-start campaign for him last year during his second season as a Chelsea player, but the way he finished it showed signs of real positivity. He played the final 12 consecutive Premier League matches as the Blues found form to sneak a sixth-placed finish.

Now, the Chelsea full-back is building on that this summer while representing Spain at the Euros.

Cucurella was great in the 3-0 win over Croatia last week. His display on Thursday night in a 1-0 success against Italy was even better, though.

He was so effective both in and out of possession for a Spain side that are emerging as one of the tournament favourites.
