A 31-year-old woman was allegedly held at knife point in a ute after a police chase near Albury in southern NSW.

Police tried to stope the ute at a petrol station at Jindera in the Riverina on Friday at 11am.

It allegedly rammed a police vehicle and failed to stop, leading to a chase.

It was eventually stopped on Urana Road by road spikes.

When police approached the vehicle, the man allegedly held a 31-year-old woman against her will inside, armed with a knife.

After police negotiations, the woman was safely released and the man was arrested.

He was taken to Albury police station where three outstanding warrants were executed.

He was also charged with multiple offences, including predatory driving, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period

He was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today.
