Excited Norris

Lando Norris’ hopes of claiming victory from pole were dashed with five laps to go at the Russian Grand Prix but he remains optimistic today.

I’m thinking about the race, the [qualifying] lap was a great lap and I don’t think I will come out of a Saturday, pole or not, as I did because it felt that good. I’m excited to get today going and see if we can keep it up.

Delighted Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton fininshed third after outqualifying team-mate George Russell and he says Mercedes’ return to the front of the grid has been coming. He told Sky Sports:

“It has been a long time coming for us as a team

“For us to be in this position where we get a third and a fourth and are starting to be more consistent in that realm is huge.

Norris in pole position

Lando Norris will start from the front after securing his second pole position of his F1 career, having beaten off Max Verstappen in the qualifying.

He claimed the first win of his career in Miami in May… can he make it a second today?
