It is fair to say that it has not been universal happiness around Chelsea in the last two years.

Performances on the pitch have not been up to scratch, and anger and disappointment seems to have frequently been left at one man’s door.

Todd Boehly’s ambition cannot be doubted ever since he took over at Stamford Bridge. Twice the Blues have smashed their record transfer fee since he took over.

However, not everyone is convinced of the project right now. Fans at Stamford Bridge and away games have been heard chanting negative things towards the American.

There has been a clear eye to the future with some of the acquisitions made since Boehly took over. You only need to look at the fee spent on bringing in Estevao Willian this summer to show how much faith they have that he could be something great.

Todd Boehly positive about Chelsea’s future

Speaking to Bloomberg, the owner remains positive about what is to come from the club in the coming years.

He said: “Very few brands have the reach Chelsea have, it means so much to so many people, the good news is the bad news, when we do well it’s great, when it’s not going well, not so great.

“Our commitment is to win, we’re here to win. Our perspective is, how do we put something together with real staying power? We’ve done it with the dodgers, putting together a team that’s very fluid and comes together, that’s the first step.

“Whenever I build any team, it takes time, we feel really good about the pieces we have and the camaraderie that the players have, and what the future holds.”

Enzo Maresca new Chelsea manager

Enzo Maresca has been the man tasked with taking the project into the future, after he replaced Mauricio Pochettino as manager at Chelsea.

He will no doubt have put a lot of work into looking at last season, and the players he wishes to build his side around.

Watching Cole Palmer will have clearly made him very confident he has a focal point already, following his sensational individual campaign last time around.
