Police were told that three men, at least one armed with a machete, entered a house in Ferny Creek around 3:45pm on June 18.
Another of the victims, who wished to remain anonymous, said “It was terrifying.'”
“He’s pretty traumatised from it,” she said of the man who was injured with the machete.
A 63-year-old woman, who was sick in bed at the time, was the first to be confronted.Â
“They just kept saying they were the police, and that we had to stay where we were,” she told 9News.Â
“My initial reaction was ‘this is a joke’.
“Then when I saw the machete I thought ‘this isn’t a joke.'”
The intruders allegedly smashed cupboards and doors and demanded guns.
Police allege the group made demands for cash and valuables from the residents before fleeing the house.
The whole ordeal lasted for about 10 minutes.
“He’s like, ‘Where’s the jewellery?’ and like pointing the machete at me,” the victim said.
“So I just went into my room and grabbed two random bags of jewellery that my mum had given me.”
It is believed that the aggravated burglary was a targeted incident.
Police investigations into the aggravated burglary are ongoing.
