Wayne Rooney has been deliberating the changes he would like to see England make on Sunday versus Slovakia.

For Chelsea fans, they’ll be keen keen to learn if Cole Palmer is in line to start his first game of the Euro 2024 tournament.

England face Slovakia tomorrow evening in the last-16 stage of the Euros.

It’s been a frustrating competition so far for Palmer, playing in just one of his nation’s three group stage matches. The 22-year-old Blues attacker was only given a brief cameo appearance off the bench in the draw with Slovenia.

Wayne Rooney wouldn’t start Cole Palmer for England

England legend Wayne Rooney has claimed that he wouldn’t promote Palmer into the Three Lions starting line-up against Slovakia.

Instead, he’d prefer to see the Chelsea youngster used as a substitute.

Rooney told The Times: “Palmer? He is just suited to international football. He can take the ball, he’s cal, on it and has the personality you need on that stage.

“… I’d probably start with Mainoo and Gordon, and use Palmer as the impact player to come on for Foden or Bellingham

Chelsea star has been unlucky

If Palmer represented any other country, we suspect he would have played a lot more so far at the Euros.

Unfortunately, Palmer can’t seem to find a route into the England XI.

Jude Bellingham is the talisman in the No 10 position. Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka is the preferred right-winger.

Based on what’s happened so far at the Euros, Palmer surely needs to get more minutes in the games ahead to lift an England side with two goals in three games.
