Maresca and Marc Guiu have spoken about next season, the new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is coming into a squad who will be feeling confident about what the future holds for them.

A strong end to last season under Mauricio Pochettino saw them end up qualifying for European football for next season, however it wasn’t enough for the Argentine to keep his job.

A number of players stepped up when it really mattered in the latter months of the campaign. The likes of Marc Cucurella and Moises Caicedo in particular began to show why they were signed for the amounts of money they were.

While there are plenty of senior players Maresca will no doubt have cast an eye over, he will not be oblivious to the extremely talented group of young players he already has at his disposal too.

The latest name added to that list is Marc Guiu, with it actually being reported that the Italian was key to the club’s pursuit of the 18-year-old.

Maresca and Marc Guiu have spoken about next season

According to Football London, the pair have already engaged in an in-depth conversation regarding the future at Stamford Bridge, with the youngster set to be given his chance as part of the first team this season.

It has previously been reported that Maresca was not keen in going into next season with just Nicolas Jackson available as a first team option up front.

Chelsea expect Armando Broja to leave

This hints that there is currently little faith that Armando Broja will still be at the club when the season rolls around again. A number of clubs are reportedly interested in signing him.

It remains to be seen if the club see Guiu as enough competition for the Senegal international, who is certain to start the season after his very impressive debut campaign.

However, the Blues do think that current star Christopher Nkunku can somewhat fill the role if needed, perhaps pushing their attention onto other players.
