It is no surprise to hear that Chelsea recently spoke to the agent of one South American forward.
Chelsea have really tapped into that market recently.
The Blues have already agreed a deal with Palmeiras to sign Estevao Willian and are now close to landing an Argentine defender.
According to BBC Sport, Chelsea have almost completed the signing of Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors.
One South American player, though, will not be joining Enzo Maresca‘s side for now.
Chelsea had the chance to sign Colombian attacker
It looks like there was a great opportunity for Chelsea to sign another South American talent.
However, the club did not take it in the end.
Oscar Perea’s agent, Matias Bunge, says he spoke to Chelsea before the left winger’s move from Atletico Nacional to Strasbourg.
On his client’s switch to the Ligue 1 club, he told El VBar Caracol: “Whoever buys him and does the operation… the papers are signed with Racing [Strasbourg], even though it is the same owner as Chelsea.
“At first, we spoke with the people from Chelsea, but the details were agreed with the people from Racing.”
Chelsea can sign Oscar Perea in the future
It will not be difficult for Chelsea to land Perea in a future transfer window if they really want him.
His move to Strasbourg has seen him join Chelsea’s sister club.
With BlueCo owning both sides, it could be easy to transfer Perea over.
As for now, though, the options Maresca has for his left flank will continue to be Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling.
Chelsea were linked with Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims they have no plans to sign him this summer.
Williams has been one of the standout players at this year’s Euros. In the four games the 21-year-old has played in Germany so far, he has come up with two goal contributions, one goal and one assist.
