It looks like Romeo Lavia has a lot of faith in his Chelsea teammate Cole Palmer.

Cole Palmer came on in England’s 2-1 win against the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 semi-finals on Wednesday and played a huge part in his country’s victory.

It was the Chelsea attacker who set up Ollie Watkins’ winner, which has sent the Three Lions to the final.

Palmer and England will now take on Spain, where the 22-year-old will face Chelsea teammate Marc Cucurella.

Before England’s semi-final tie against the Netherlands, Gareth Southgate had highlighted Palmer’s impact from off the bench.

Romeo Lavia’s Cole Palmer prediction

Lavia seemed quite confident that Palmer could come on and make a difference for the Three Lions on Wednesday night.

Before the Englishman provided the assist for the decisive goal, his Chelsea teammate took to X and shared a post saying “Cole’s Time”.

It certainly was, as Palmer and Watkins combined to send England to the European Championship final.

It will now be interesting to see if the former starts in Berlin on Sunday.

Harry Kane is England captain and an elite goalscorer, so there is no way that Southgate is going to drop him for Watkins. But with Phil Foden yet to contribute to a single goal at the tournament, you can certainly make an argument for Palmer starting over the Manchester City star.

Cole Palmer and Ollie Watkins could be such a good combination at Chelsea

Chelsea could sign another striker this summer, and Watkins would be perfect.

The Aston Villa star was exceptional last season, scoring 19 goals and providing 13 assists in 37 Premier League appearances.

Only Palmer was directly involved in more goals than the England forward.

Having those two in the same team could take Chelsea places, but Villa are not going to sell their talisman, who signed a new long-term contract last year.

With the Villans also in the Champions League, you suspect that Watkins will be reluctant to leave Villa Park as well, especially for a club who are not competing in the competition like Chelsea.
