There’s no doubt that the loan system has been Chelsea’s friend for so many years now when it comes to the development of young players.

If you look at the current Blues squad, there’s plenty of them that previously spent time on loan before making a first-team breakthrough at Stamford Bridge.

Reece James, Levi Colwill and Conor Gallagher have all benefited from various loans spells earlier in their careers.

There’s a current Chelsea youngster that we’d love to see follow that same path.

Tyrique George is with the main group

Chelsea prospect Tyrique George, who’s aged just 18, is an extremely highly-rated talent on the club’s books.

The teenage attacker joined the Blues as an Under-8 after coming through the club’s development centre programme.

Now, he’s mixing it with the senior squad this week, albeit he’s still yet to make his first-team debut in men’s football.

Chelsea confirmed via their official app on Wednesday that George was involved at Cobham during senior training on day three of pre-season under Enzo Maresca.

The club wrote: “Day three of our pre-season prep saw work continue at our training ground with much better weather conditions prevailing in Surrey…

“It was also all smiles from Mykhailo Mudryk, Malo Gusto and Tyrique George as they continued their work on the Cobham pitches under the tutelage of head coach Enzo Maresca.”

He needs loan move despite first-team involvement

The Chelsea Chronicle would love to see George get his first taste of first-team football by spending the 2024/25 season out on loan.

It would be great to see him build upon a really encouraging year last season.

George scored 14 goals and made 10 assists in 34 games across all competitions. This was across both both of Chelsea’s Under-21s team and Under-18s.

He’s a skillful winger with pace, trickery and an eye for goal.

From the latest group of Chelsea youngsters, he’s surely one individual with one of the biggest ceilings.

Now is a great time for the 18-year-old forward to go out and play senior football and tests himself in this part of his development.

As good as it is training with Chelsea’s main group, the sooner the better when it comes to joining a loan club and giving yourself time to settle into a new environment.
