Despite being very active in this transfer window, Chelsea are yet to sign a striker who is guaranteed to play in the first team this upcoming season.

On Friday, Chelsea confirmed the signing of Renato Veiga from Basel.

Before that, the Blues announced the arrivals of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Guiu from Leicester City and Barcelona respectively.

The latter is a striker, but it has been claimed that Chelsea could loan Guiu to Sevilla this summer.

Ultimately, Enzo Maresca could do with another centre-forward, which he could still end up getting.

Chelsea have one of Europe’s top forwards last season on their radar

While Chelsea have been busy during this transfer window, they are yet to bring in a real exciting name.

The likes of Dewsbury-Hall and Tosin Adarabioyo will add Premier League experience to Maresca’s squad, but they are not the kind of signings that fans are going to be ecstatic about.

A tricky winger with huge potential like Estevao Willian is, but he cannot link-up with the Blues until he turns 18 next year.

Chelsea supporters, then, are still waiting for that real exciting name to come through the door, which could eventually come in the form of Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres.

According to TBR Football, Chelsea retain an interest in the 26-year-old.

Chelsea had been heavily linked with Gyokeres last season, but things went a bit quiet. However, it appears that they still have him on their radar.

The same outlet claims that while manager Ruben Amorim only wants Gyokeres to be sold for his £85m release clause, Sporting may be willing to sell the Sweden international for £60m.

He scored an impressive 43 goals in 50 appearances for the Portuguese champions during the 2023/24 campaign.

Should Chelsea sign Viktor Gyokeres for £60m this summer?

Last season was the first where Gyokeres put up serious numbers in a top European league.

Considering that, signing him could be a gamble — a real expensive one at £85m.

At £60m, though, the Sporting talisman could be worth a punt. Chelsea are struggling to bring in a centre-forward at the moment, and that is the kind of money Atletico Madrid are thought to want for Samu Omorodion.

It has been claimed that Atletico value Omorodion at £68m. A player who Chelsea have been heavily linked with, they would be better off going for the more proven and experienced Gyokeres if Sporting are willing to sell him for £60m this summer.
