With Euro 2024 about to conclude, Alan Pardew has named his team of the tournament, and the former Premier League manager has included one player who Chelsea have been linked with recently.

Tonight’s final is one that will certainly interest Chelsea supporters.

The Blues have players on both sides, with Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher representing England, while Marc Cucurella will be lining up for Spain.

There are also individuals who have been linked with moves to Stamford Bridge.

For example, it has been reported that Chelsea are interested in Spain’s Dani Olmo. Just before the transfer window opened, it was also claimed that Chelsea had Marc Guehi on their radar.

Alan Pardew thinks £65m man has been ‘terrific’

Olmo and Guehi have both helped Spain and England to get to the final.

As an Englishman, Pardew will obviously be hoping for Gareth Southgate’s men to get their hands on the European Championship trophy.

But whatever happens, the 62-year-old thinks Guehi has been “terrific”, putting the Crystal Palace central defender in his team of the tournament.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Pardew said: “I’ve got Guehi in the team, which might surprise many people. That’s not my Palace hat on!

“He’s been terrific and tomorrow [today], you watch tomorrow, every time it goes near [Alvaro] Morata, he will be sniffing it out and winning it before Morata even gets a touch on it.”

Should Chelsea sign Marc Guehi after the Euro 2024 final?

Guehi has been quite solid at the Euros. According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old is winning two aerial duels per game, which is the second-highest average in England’s squad.

Chelsea, though, have just signed Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham on a free transfer.

Adarabioyo joins a squad that already had Benoit Badiashile, Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah before his arrival.

Ultimately, Enzo Maresca does not look short of options in central defence. So unless someone leaves this summer, then Chelsea probably do not need to sign Guehi, who will not come cheap.

According to The Telegraph, Palace are unwilling to sell the England international for less than £65m.
