A film adaptation of the beloved TV series 24 is officially in development at 20th Century Studios, according to Variety.

Brian Grazer, co-founder of Imagine Entertainment, hinted at the project during an appearance on MSNBC’s ‘Squawk Box’.

Grazer said, “Imagine has always played in that zone where there is that high probability chance that it will be successful in movie theaters.”

He continued, “It’s great for us, because we’ve built, over 30 years, over 100 different products and brands, whether it’s ‘Backdraft,’ which I’m now going to do today with Glen Powell, or whether it’s ’24,’ a movie that we’re going to do in a very interesting way with Disney and Fox.”

The project is said to be in the early development stage, so there are no details surrounding the cast and storyline yet.

24, the popular action-packed series from the 2000s, was created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran for Fox. It aired for nine seasons from 2001 to 2014 and included a TV film called Redemption in 2008.

The series followed Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland ), a U.S. counter-terrorist federal agent, as he attempted to thwart various nefarious plots, including cyberwarfare, government corruption, and bomb threats.

Each season portrayed 24 hours in real time.

24 film adaptation does not yet have a release window.
