Chelsea have reportedly come back to the table to talk about one Premier League player they want to sign.

The Blues are no doubt looking to give the best possible backing to new manager Enzo Maresca ahead of his first season as a Premier League boss.

It seems they have started to go about this with their marquee addition of the window so far.

Kiernan-Dewsbury Hall emerged as a target after Maresca was hired, after the duo combined to great success at Leicester City last season.

Now though, with reports of a desire for another new defender, it seems Chelsea have been led back in the direction of Murillo from Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea ask about Murillo again

Journalist Gianluigi Longari has stated on Twitter that the Blues have made contact again about possibly bringing the player to Stamford Bridge.

He said: “New recent contacts between Chelsea and Nottingham Forest for the defender Murillo.

“The Brazilian remains a strong target for the Blues for this signing campaign.”

Bringing Murillo into their ranks would be a superb addition for Chelsea. He has impressed a large amount of those watching him since he moved to the Premier League.

‘Outstanding’ Murillo fits the Chelsea project

He has been described in the past as ‘outstanding’ by Jamie Carragher, and his age suggests he would fit into the project the owners are trying to carry out at Stamford Bridge.

It remains to be seen if they make a move for a defender who does a lot of his best work on the left half of a back four.

This is similar to Levi Colwill, who will no doubt be hoping for more minutes in the middle of defence after his sporadic left-back showings last season.

If they went to look a slightly different way, then they could sign their very own Leny Yoro at the back in the form of Jorrel Hato.

However, top flight experience is now on the side of Murillo, and despite the expensive price tag he would remain a superb addition.
