Chelsea’s midfielder is reportedly open to the idea of returning to the club where he spent last season on loan.

It’s been a busy summer transfer window so far at Chelsea, which has included plenty of incomings and outgoings.

In terms of sales, the Blues have already cashed in on youngsters Ian Maatsen, Omari Hutchinson and Lewis Hall. We’re yet to see the club really use the loan system like they usually do, though.

There wasn’t room for everyone in Enzo Maresca’s squad during the pre-season tour of the United States. Therefore, it’ll be no surprise if those individuals left behind start to receive links in the transfer rumour mill.

Chelsea player Tino Anjorin open to Portsmouth reunion

According to The Portsmouth News, Championship club Portsmouth have made no secret of their desire to sign Chelsea’s Tino Anjorin.

This comes after the 22-year-old midfielder spent last year on a season-long loan at Fratton Park. He did spend much of the campaign injured on the treatment table, but was part of a Portsmouth squad promoted from League One.

It is explained that Portsmouth are currently monitoring Anjorin, who’s been left off Chelsea’s pre-season tour.

The report says that the English attacking midfielder would welcome a return to Pompey next season.

If Portsmouth were to try sign Anjorin permanently, he’d need to take a significant wage cut. In terms of any loan move, the Championship side will need to weigh up the Chelsea man’s fitness.

Tino Anjorin yet to match the hype from Levi Colwill

Chelsea duo Anjorin and Levi Colwill, who both came through the club’s academy system, were previously together at Huddersfield Town at the same time. Their loan spells with Huddersfield overlapped during the second half of the 2021/22 season.

Speaking via The Athletic in May 2022, Colwill raved about Anjorin’s quality. He said: “He is something else… His presence is remarkable. When he gets on it and turns, no one can stop him with his power.”

Unfortunately, Anjorin has since struggled with back-to-back seasons interrupted by injuries during his time out on loan with different clubs.

It doesn’t feel like he’s anywhere close to adding to his five senior appearances for Chelsea. His main aim just needs to be staying fit and playing regularly, whether that’s at Portsmouth or elsewhere.
