With all the signings that Chelsea are continuing to make this summer, there is always the threat of some current players getting left behind.

Reports over the signing of Filip Jorgensen have gained plenty of traction in recent days, and this has led to fears that the first team goalkeepers at the club could be surplus to requirements.

There are doubts over Djordje Petrovic’s ability to feature in Enzo Maresca’s system, and he is not currently on the tour of the United States.

Another position they have been keen to strengthen this summer is on the wing. Michael Olise has formally been seen as their number one transfer target.

This could cause real issues for Noni Madueke, who had a strong end to last season under Mauricio Pochettino.

Noni Madueke not worried about competition at Chelsea

However, the winger’s personal coach, Saul Isaksson-Hurst, has said that everything he has heard from him suggests he is not worried about that possibility.

He said: “We did talk about that. Initially he was like, ‘Oh hang on’, but he is very grounded. He told me, ‘That’s football, it’s the level, competition is a good thing. It’s the reality of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“Competition drives you on to be even better.’ Even I was like, ‘Oh wow, that’s impressive and a mature way of looking at it’. He means it. You can tell. That’s the personality he has.”

Madueke was named in the starting side for the pre-season friendly against Wrexham earlier this week, and could well see the same fate on Saturday when they take on Celtic.

Estevao and Paez set to join Chelsea next summer

Competition for his place in the side is likely to actually come in the future, with two signings the club have made who will join next summer.

There is plenty of optimism over the incoming Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian, and they will likely continue to impress this season with their respective clubs before making the move to Stamford Bridge.
