There’s not too many individuals in the Chelsea squad right now that can raise their hand and declare they’re having a great season. However, talkSPORT pundit Scott Minto is convinced one Blues player is going to Euro 2024 with his country this summer no matter what happens.

Chelsea do have several stars in with a chance of going to Germany for the major international tournament at the end of the campaign. For instance, the Blues trio of Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher and Ben Chilwell are currently away with England during March’s international break.

So, how many Chelsea representatives will make it into Gareth Southgate’s final 23-man squad for the tournament?

According to Scott Minto, Chelsea’s Gallagher will definitely be in England’s squad at the Euros.

The 24-year-old midfielder has been a regular pick in Southgate’s group for the last couple of years, so we think it’s a fair guess that he’ll be on the plane to Germany. In fact, he should have ambitions of making the XI after starting the weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Brazil.

“I think Gallagher will be there whatever [at Euro 2024]. Gallagher can play a couple of positions. He has done for Chelsea,” Minto told talkSPORT.

From our point of view, we’d include Gallagher in the England squad, albeit he wouldn’t quite make our best starting line-up.

Speaking via FIVE’s YouTube channel this week, Rio Ferdinand has suggested Gallagher should be dropped from England’s starting midfield.

Conor Gallagher can’t play best position for England

Gallagher, who’s been excellent for Chelsea this term, is at his very best when he’s operating higher up the pitch.

His best performances for his club have been from the No 10 position, where he roams the attacking third with superb energy and enthusiasm.

Unfortunately, it seems very unlikely he’ll get a look-in for that position with his country. Instead he’s forced to play a tad deeper in midfield as a No 8 or No 6, which he can do, but just not quite to the same high standard.

England are fortunate enough that one of Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, James Maddison or Cole Palmer could play as a No 10 this summer.
