Chelsea have made several signings this summer ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

The above includes the likes of Renato Veiga, Marc Guiu and Omari Kellyman. Chelsea‘s recruiting is not done yet either.

Chelsea are about to add Filip Jorgensen to their squad to provide competition to Robert Sanchez, who appears to be the team’s first-choice goalkeeper as things stand.

With all of these new arrivals, the Blues’ already big squad has grown even more, which means sales and loans are also likely before the transfer window closes.

And one of Chelsea’s recent signings is not ruling out a temporary move despite having just arrived at the club.

Renato Veiga could leave Chelsea on loan

Veiga joined Chelsea from Basel earlier this month, but it looks like there is a possibility of the 20-year-old being loaned out during this transfer window.

While Veiga says he feels he has Enzo Maresca‘s trust, the Portuguese could not rule out a temporary switch before the market shuts.

Discussing whether Chelsea will loan him out or not, Veiga told The Athletic and other outlets: “We will see at the end of pre-season or after the market closes [what happens]. I feel the trust from the manager and my colleagues. I just want to do my best and we will see of course.”

Chelsea fans were impressed with Veiga after he made his debut for the club on Saturday. It was a game to forget, though, with the Blues losing 4-1 to Celtic.

Why Chelsea may opt against loaning out Renato Veiga

Veiga is probably not going to play every week if he remains at Stamford Bridge this summer.

However, he could still have his use to the new Chelsea manager. Veiga is a very versatile footballer, able to play in central defence, midfield and at left-back.

The Blues had so many injuries last season; he would have been the perfect player to have around.

It certainly will be interesting to see what Chelsea do with him. If the former Basel man remains in west London, you cannot imagine Maresca being too upset about that, considering his versatility. From Veiga’s perspective, though, he may want to play, which means a loan could be in his best interest.
