• Fred Sirieix’s daughter is an Olympic medallist after a stunning diving display
  • Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix and Lois Toulson took bronze in the synchro final
  • They nailed their final dive to pip Canada to the final spot on the podium

Fred Sirieix’s daughter Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix claimed a bronze medal in the women’s synchronised 10m platform Olympic final in Paris on Wednesday morning.

The First Dates star is out in the French capital to cheer on his daughter, and she delivered on the big stage alongside partner Lois Toulson.

After two solid dives to start off their competition, Spendolini-Sirieix and Toulson faltered with their third dive to leave themselves playing catch up.

But after starting the final round in fourth, they produced their best dive of the competition to pip Canada’s pairing to the final spot on the podium.

Sirieix was watching on at poolside and punched the air in delight as the final result was announced.

Meanwhile, Spendolini-Sirieix and Toulson burst into tears and hugged each other after holding their nerve to win a medal.

China took gold, while it was silver for North Korea.

Spendolini-Sirieix finished seventh back in Tokyo in the women’s 10m platform final, but has since earned honours on the world, European and Commonwealth stage.

The 19-year-old now has an Olympic medal to add to her collection, and her famous dad could not have been prouder.

Her diving partner, Toulson, dates fellow Team GB diver Jack Laugher – a gold medallist in Rio eight years ago – and he was in the stands to cheer on his girlfriend.

Laugher came down from the stands to give Toulson a kiss after her remarkable achievement.

He will be in action over the coming days as he looks to win his fourth Olympic medal, having picked up a gold, silver and bronze over the last two Games.

Spendolini-Sirieix and Toulson secured Team GB’s third diving medal in Paris, following in the footsteps of Tom Daley and Noah Williams who won silver in the men’s synchronised 10m final after Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen took bronze in the women’s synchronised 3m final.

Daley was on hand to cheer the women’s pair to third place as he carried out his trademark knitting alongside Laugher and the rest of Team GB’s divers.

The 30-year-old superstar is now a five-time Olympic medallist after his silver on Monday and is yet to make a final decision on his future.

He was expected to step away from the diving board after these Olympics, but could now be tempted to stick around to compete in Los Angeles – where he currently resides – in four years.

Speaking about his future on Monday, Daley said: ‘I don’t know about six [Olympic Games], but I also said that the last time and here I am back.

‘They also might be adding an event into the ‘28 Games in the mixed team, so who knows.’
