Chelsea are reportedly still deliberating what to do after the agent of a high-profile attacker approached them this summer.

There’s a lot of forward options in a large Chelsea squad for Enzo Maresca to choose from, but they continue to be linked with more players in this transfer window.

It was claimed earlier this week by journalist Simon Phillips on Substack that Chelsea want to sign one more winger. Athletic Bilbao and Spain wide man Nico Williams, 22, was named as a potential transfer target.

However, there’s now fresh claims suggesting that a deal for a Serie A attacker may yet be on the cards.

Chelsea yet to respond to Federico Chiesa approach

Phillips has further reported via Substack that the agent of Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa has approached Chelsea.

It is explained that the Blues haven’t yet given a definitive answer and have been considering the 26-year-old Italian star.

Apparently, Chelsea’s interest in Chiesa dates back to when Thomas Tuchel was in charge. In fact, there’s still some admirers of the Juventus winger in the current hierarchy at Stamford Bridge.

This comes after Calciomercato.it claimed earlier in July that Chiesa is valued at €25m (£21m), but there’s rival interest from Tottenham.

Should the Blues sign Federico Chiesa?

Chelsea may be smart to bring another attacking option to the squad, especially if it’s someone with experience at the top level. Juventus speedster Chiesa certainly does tick plenty of boxes in that respect. Speaking via beIN Sports last year, Giorgio Chiellini described Chiesa as “unstoppable” in one-on-one situations.

The Italian attacker, who can play anywhere across the frontline, has been a top performer in his homeland for several years now. From his time at Juventus and Fiorentina, he’s scored 47 goals and made 43 assists in 235 Serie A league appearances.

Chiesa could be a fairly sensible purchase for around £20m for any European club, but Chelsea need to weigh up how happy they are with their wide options first.
