The Chelsea squad which is currently representing the club over in the United States have been eager to impress the new manager ahead of next season.

Enzo Maresca will no doubt be analysing who he feels is ready to do a job for his side going into next season, as he implements his style of play on his new club.

Inverting full-backs seem to be on the agenda this season, with Reece James occupying that role early on during the tour of America.

Yesterday saw Malo Gusto thrive there alongside Romeo Lavia, who has stood out as far as midfielders go this summer.

Another midfielder who has only featured a small amount so far is Andrey Santos, after the 20-year-old spent last season on loan.

Andrey Santos heading on loan in the coming hours

While at first it seemed as if his immediate future lied at Stamford Bridge, instead he is seemingly going to be heading back to Strasbourg where he starred last campaign.

According to Alsa Sports, the deal for the Brazilian to make the switch over there should be done in the coming hours.

Depth in the middle of the park is something that does look really strong going into next season, with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo two of the favourites to start in there.

Competition for midfield places at Chelsea

Lavia will be hoping he can combine his strong performances with good health and fitness for the upcoming season to finally make an impact for Chelsea.

They have all been joined as a potential candidate for minutes by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who starred in his debut last night against Club America.

An assist for youngster Marc Guiu capped off a very strong 45 minutes, with him no doubt already having an eye on the Premier League opener against Manchester City.

Santos meanwhile looks as if he is going to have to wait yet another year before he is finally given a proper chance to impress at Stamford Bridge.
