Paddy McGuinness will have had more relaxing showers than the one he had to share with Roy Keane.
The 49-year-old comedian and TV presenter is a regular for England side in the charitable match that raises money for UNICEF.
But one time he had to play against a Rest of the World side that featured Roy Keane and his no-nonsense attitude was apparent in the showers afterwards, too!
“He loves a foam burst, that lad,” McGuinness, who presented Drive on talkSPORT, said.
“You know some people just love a proper lather.”
Confused, his co-host, Andy Goldstein, asked: “Hold on a minute, ‘how did this come about?'”
“Soccer Aid – I was having a chat with someone and was last into the shower.
“And, it was just me and him, and he looked at me, like the water had stopped, everything just stopped in mid-air.
“I was like ‘oh god, it is Roy Keane’, he had it all out, and doesn’t trim!
“Like I said, he lathered himself up that much, like when you see people swim the English channel and they put the lard on, like that.
“It was just a pair of eyes, I did not speak to him, silence, right at the side of each other.
“Silent naked soapy shower.
“I did give him a bit of a nod, and then the silence was that deafening, I thought I am going to have to say something.
“He rinsed off, walked out of the shower, and as he is walking out, he is going to the door, and I just went ‘Roy, you have not done me back!’
“He stopped the door, came back in and looked at me.
“And he said something, and to this day, I don’t know what he said.
“I don’t know whether it was a cheery reply back, or calling me every name under the sun – probably the latter!
“But Brad Pitt in Snatch was clearer!”
