The driver of a Range Rover accused of causing the death of a beauty therapist in a crash has been remanded in custody after his family were unable to raise £250,000 for bail.

Rida Kazem, 23, is charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a horror crash that killed Yagmur Ozden, 33, on the A40 in west London on August 22 last year.

The mother-of-one died after Kazem’s black Range Rover became airborne and somersaulted over a Tesla charging station before landing on the rail tracks at Park Royal underground station – with the incident caught on dash cam.

Kazem, a jewellery shop manager, appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today in a wheelchair after having his leg amputated following the crash.

He was remanded in custody after his family were unable to raise the £250,000 bail money required by the court.

The district judge had given his father until 4pm to deposit the money, but they informed the court they could not raise that amount.

Kazem will next appear at the Old Bailey for a pre-trial hearing.

Beauty therapist Ozden, who had a 12-year-old daughter, died at the scene after being ejected from the rear seat of the car.

An inquest opening was told she died from blunt force trauma.

Another passenger Zamarod Arif suffered a fractured arm and leg. Kazem suffered major injuries and had his left leg amputated after spending several weeks in a coma at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

Kazem has also been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to provide a sample of blood.
